Brian Eno Calls On Support to Propel Together for Palestine Lullaby to UK Festive Top Spot.
A campaign is aiming to send a traditional song from Palestine to the peak of the festive singles chart. The project aims to send support to communities in Gaza while also highlighting Palestinian cultural expression.
A Chance for Unity and an "Surprise Victory"
Renowned figure Brian Eno, who performs on the track, stated that the single 'Lullaby' represents a chance to show solidarity with Palestinians this festive season. He acknowledged the potential for an surprise number one.
“It would be fantastic if that occurred, yes,” he stated. “I’m not gonna be completely let down if it doesn’t, festive releases are a category of their own.”
Powerful Theme of Dignity and Freedom
Palestinian singer Nai Barghouti, who features in the adaptation of a traditional lullaby called Yamma Mwel El Hawa, explained the song's powerful central theme.
“The song holds a profound significance for a lot of people,” Barghouti said. “The essence is that I would prefer a dignified death than live a life without freedom. That is the core idea of the song; we want to live a respectful existence that we merit as a people.”
Production History and Featured Artists
The track was produced after a major charity concert held in late summer. First conceived to be captured during the live event, the rendition was shelved during the concert due to the event running long.
The impressive roster of performers featured on Lullaby encompasses a selection of acclaimed names from the scene. All were part of the September show, which managed to collect a considerable total for humanitarian aid.
Creation and Launch
Lullaby was produced by a group of music creators. The track showcases a fusion of the heritage language with freshly written English words.
The organizers behind the project have stated that their objective is to generate maximum funds for a dedicated fund. These resources will be channeled to initiatives supporting Palestinians through an established charity.
“There is no a fixed goal,” a representative said. “We aim for as much as possible. Of course, the higher the total, the greater the impact. All proceeds are directed out to the people of Gaza.”
The situation in the territory was noted for its widespread damage, with a overwhelming percentage of infrastructure described as levelled or seriously harmed.
“Against that backdrop, a handful of millions is unlikely to make an enormous impact. But I think what truly matters is primarily spreading knowledge of this plight and demonstrating there’s another side to the story.”
The track is scheduled for release at the end of the week. Additionally, a full recording of the benefit event will be made accessible to view on a popular streaming site from later in the month.
